Turtle Creek Association Accomplishments
Turtle Creek Association members are leaders in preserving the corridor's natural beauty and developing a vision for the future. Organized over 20 years ago to supplement efforts of the City of Dallas, the Association works to preserve and protect a valuable natural resource for all who drive, walk or jog along Turtle Creek.
A sampling of the projects TCA has underwritten include:
- $450,000 median landscaping along Turtle Creek Boulevard.
- $60,000 median landscaping on Blackburn Street.
- $25,000 per year to maintain median landscaping and replacement of plants.
- $18,000 per year for flowers in 15 color beds along Turtle Creek Boulevard twice a year.
- $135,000 for a Master Plan for Turtle Creek outlining major improvements, enhancing urban design.
- $45,000 for a new sidewalk installed from Blackburn Street to Avondale Avenue, in partnership with City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
- $60,000 median landscaping on Lemmon Avenue completed in 2005.
- $150,000 for a Master Plan for trees and related reforestation efforts.
- $100,000 endowment managed by the Dallas Foundation.
Similar projects to those listed above are always ongoing, with TCA providing nearly $200,000 each year to fund area enhancements and improvements.
"TCA’s mission is to preserve, protect and enhance the natural beauty and quality of life in the Turtle Creek Corridor."
