Gillespie Median is Restored

It has been 18 months since construction of a 54" sanitary sewer pipeline project began on Turtle Creek Blvd.  Today we are pleased to announce the total restoration of this gateway median where Gillespie St. meets Turtle Creek Blvd. and Cedar Springs Rd.

Many have asked, What took the TCA so long?  Construction of the new sewer line began in August 2013 and took over a year to complete.  During that time this median was buried under ten feet of dirt remove from the pipe ditch.  Then followed a five-month repaving project starting at Maple Ave., requiring that new curbs be built around this median.

                   February 2014                                                  December 2014

During construction, the TCA began planning the median restoration.  We consulted with noted Dallas Landscape Architects Armstrong-Berger to design a plan in keeping with the sophistication of the neighborhood within sight of the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and surrounding residences and office buildings.  John Armstrong proposed water-wise varieties of White Crepe Myrtle, Indian Hawthorne, Snow White Azalea, Japanese Plum Yew and a splash of seasonal color contained by limestone coping.

TCA's contractors, Good Earth and Smart Outdoor Services replenished the topsoil, restored the drip irrigation system and planted more mature plant material to bring the restoration of the median to reality.  Now our sights are set on improving the adjacent triangle median. The TCA aggressively pursues funding from City contractors while moving forward with making our neighborhood a more beautiful place to live, work and play.  Your membership dues and generous donations go a long way to make all of this possible.

Thank you for your patience and support of this project.
