Turtle Creek’s mission…

The Turtle Creek Association is dedicated to protecting, preserving, and enhancing Turtle Creek, a vital environmental asset to the Dallas area. Turtle Creek is more than just a neighborhood feature; it's a crucial component of the city’s stormwater management, air quality, and climate resilience.

Our work extends beyond local boundaries, impacting the overall health and sustainability of Dallas. With a comprehensive masterplan in place, we're poised to implement significant environmental improvements. However, achieving these goals requires community support.

By joining and donating to the Turtle Creek Association, you're not just supporting a local cause; you're investing in the future resilience and environmental health of our city. Help us make a real difference—become a member and contribute today

Meet Toby The Turtle

Toby the Turtle stands as the distinguished symbol of the Turtle Creek Association, emblematic of our commitment to the preservation, protection, and enhancement of Turtle Creek. Originally an unnamed mascot, Toby was christened by the daughter of J.D. Trueblood, President and CEO of the Turtle Creek Association, marking a new chapter in our organization’s story.

As the central figure of our logo, Toby not only represents our efforts but also personifies the spirit of community and conservation. In his honor, we have instituted the "Toby’s Scavenger Hunt," an engaging and educational experience designed to deepen public understanding of the creek’s vital role in our ecosystem.

Toby has evolved from a mere mascot to embody the core values and mission of the Turtle Creek Association, fostering a sense of unity and kinship among our members and the broader community. Through Toby, we extend a warm invitation to all to join us in not only preserving a natural treasure but also in cultivating a nurturing and inclusive environment.

During recent research into the history of the bridges of Turtle Creek, I came across a fascinating find in the Dallas Morning News from 1926—an original advertisement showcasing the newly opened Turtle Creek Park Subdivision. What stood out immediately was the image of the Stonebridge Drive Bridge, featured prominently as the gateway into a wooded, hillside neighborhood that still exists today.

Median Refresh in Full Bloom Along Turtle Creek Boulevard

ATurtle Creek’s medians have always been a defining element of the boulevard—offering beauty, greenery, and a touch of elegance to all who pass by. This summer, those medians got a thoughtful refresh, continuing our commitment to keeping the corridor vibrant and well cared for.

Making a Splash: Man Spotted Swimming in Turtle Creek

Yes, it’s true. A man was recently seen swimming in the creek near William B. Dean Park. Full stroke. In the water. And while we admire his adventurous spirit (and apparent immunity to murky mystery), it’s a moment that had us scratching our heads and thinking: Have we made the creek look a little too clean and inviting?
