Turtle Creek Association leads the hands-on stewardship and community advocacy that protect this corridor year-round.

Turtle Creek is not just a scenic drive.

It is a living corridor that serves residents, visitors, wildlife, and the city itself. TCA works to preserve and enhance it through beautification, cleanup, restoration, and long-term planning.

A place this important needs active care

Without regular stewardship, medians fade, trails deteriorate, invasive growth spreads, infrastructure ages, and the corridor loses both beauty and function.

Our Accomplishments

Beautification

In partnership with the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, TCA is proud to lead ongoing beautification efforts along the corridor. Enhancements include seasonal flower beds, fall pumpkin displays, holiday wreaths, decorative median containers, and 25 meticulously landscaped medians—ensuring the corridor remains vibrant and welcoming year-round.

TCA covers the full cost of these efforts, investing over $300,000 (need new number) annually. This includes replacing dead or underperforming trees and shrubs, installing new plantings such as oak leaf hydrangeas, providing water and electricity to support irrigation and lighting systems, and maintaining the parklands and greenbelts that border Turtle Creek. TCA carefully selects plantings for resilience, sustainability, and seasonal appeal, ensuring long-term health and beauty while reducing maintenance needs. Through close coordination with Dallas Parks & Recreation, these spaces remain a source of pride and enjoyment for the entire community.

Preservation

TCA’s Master Plan serves as our roadmap, guiding strategic investments and long-term improvements throughout the corridor. Our work focuses on three key areas of opportunity:

Restoration of the Creek
TCA has secured $1 million in grant funding dedicated to dredging Turtle Creek—an essential step in restoring water flow, improving habitat quality, and reducing long-term maintenance challenges. Additional priorities include bank stabilization and addressing recurring trash and pollution issues. These efforts are already showing promising results: Blue Herons and Kingfishers have recently returned, a clear sign of a healthier ecosystem.

Reversing Infrastructure Decay
TCA is actively addressing the aging infrastructure throughout the corridor. This includes eliminating graffiti, restoring eight historic bridges, and improving public safety through the removal of illegal encampments and the installation of new lighting along the Turtle Creek Leisure Trail. Each of these efforts helps protect the integrity, safety, and beauty of the area for residents and visitors alike.

Coming Soon: A New Cultural Destination
TCA is bringing public art to the corridor with the installation of Crow 1, a striking sculpture by artist Arie van Selm. Donated to TCA, the piece is now being installed at the gateway entrance at Maple Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard. Through art, TCA aims to foster unity, enhance public space, and position the corridor as a cultural destination within Dallas.‍ ‍

REstoration

TCA plays a leading role in safeguarding the historic and architectural treasures that define the Turtle Creek Corridor—most notably through The Bridges of Turtle Creek initiative. In partnership with the Turtle Creek Conservancy and the City of Dallas, TCA helped spearhead the restoration of all eight historic stone and concrete bridges that span Turtle Creek, many of which are more than a century old.

These bridges are more than functional infrastructure—they are irreplaceable pieces of Dallas history. Their craftsmanship, character, and enduring presence have shaped the identity of the corridor for generations. But after decades of wear, weathering, and heavy use, they were in urgent need of structural and aesthetic restoration.

This effort represents one of the most significant preservation investments ever made along Turtle Creek. Today, the restored bridges stand as a testament to what public–private collaboration can achieve—protecting our shared heritage, strengthening neighborhood connectivity, and elevating the beauty of Dallas’s most iconic urban waterway for generations to come.

Recreation

Turtle Creek Association enhances the daily experience of everyone who enjoys the corridor—from weekend joggers and cyclists to dog walkers, neighbors, and visitors exploring one of Dallas’s most beautiful urban green spaces. By preserving Turtle Creek and the adjoining Turtle Creek Leisure Trail, TCA helps safeguard the quality of life for residents and visitors alike, ensuring this cherished natural asset continues to serve as Dallas’s official Front Yard.

As the neighborhood grows in density, the value of accessible recreation, open space, and safe pathways becomes even more essential. That’s why TCA has expanded its work beyond beautification to include:

  • Addressing illegal encampments to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all

  • Installing and maintaining lighting along the trail to increase visibility and enhance safety

  • Protecting parklands and creek areas so they remain vibrant, clean, and accessible

Through these efforts, TCA is committed not only to preserving the natural character of the corridor, but also to ensuring it remains a safe, active, and enjoyable space for the entire community.
